The ESL e-sports tournaments IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne will also take place in 2023. In addition to "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive", Starcraft 2 will also be played as usual in the former.

As an integral part of the calendar of the ESL, which is majority owned by the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Wealth Fund PIF, the official confirmation of the most important tournaments of the "Intel Extreme Masters" series for the coming year is of little surprise. The IEM Katowice in CS:GO starts with the play-in phase on January 31, and ends almost two weeks later with the playoffs at the Spodek Arena in Katowice from February 10 to 12.

The tournament in Starcraft will take place at the same time as the CS:GO competition. The playoffs will be held in front of an audience in the neighboring fairgrounds. A final at the Spodek Arena is no longer planned.

The IEM Cologne starts on July 25 with the play-ins in a studio, the playoffs will then take place from August 4 to 6 in the Lanxess Arena. The tournament will therefore take place a little later than this year, but with 24 teams over three phases, it will continue to use the same tournament format as the IEM Katowice.
