G2 Esports is the first European representative for the League of Legends World Championship. With the victory over Misfits Gaming in the LoL league LEC, G2 has secured its place at the World Cup. The playoff spots, however, have not yet been awarded.

"I'm really looking forward to the World Cup. And hopefully we will play better, because at MSI our performance was not the best, " said Victor "Flakked" Tortosa of G2 in the interview after the game. "But we have the chance to perform internationally again." G2 literally overran Misfits in the top duel - after less than 30 minutes the game was over.

Meanwhile, Fnatic prevailed in a highly exciting duel against Team Vitality. The star of the hour was Canadian Elias "Upset" Lipp: with an outstanding performance, he was the decisive factor against the direct opponent in the race for the playoffs.

With this, Fnatic consolidates its place in the playoff ranks behind Vitality, but is not yet qualified for sure - even Excel still has the opportunity to enter the knockout round. For both Astralis and SK Gaming, however, the dream of the playoffs on this matchday has come to an end.
