Without FunPlus Phoenix, G2 Esports and Acend: Valorant developer Riot Games has presented the ten teams of the new EMEA league for 2023. Several top teams from Europe are missing.

The biggest surprise is probably FunPlus Phoenix. Just a few days ago, FPX reached the fourth place at the World Championship called Champions. "We are shocked and disappointed by this result," FPX said in a statement on Twitter. "We are the best EMEA team and we are proud of it.»

The big names G2 Esports and Acend are also not in the new league. Whether the absence of G2 is related to the controversy surrounding CEO Carlos Rodriguez remained open. According to a report by the "Washington Post", Riot did not want to comment on individual teams.

The organizations were invited as part of a partnership program. According to a statement, for example, attention was paid to whether the organizations share the values of the Group or have a convincing brand.

Only four of the twelve teams of the previous European top league have now been invited. Instead, comparatively surprising teams such as Karmine Corp or KOI will be there from 2023.
