Because the e-sports organization Penta 1860 repeatedly missed "financial obligations", the League of Legends League Prime League disqualified the team with immediate effect.

According to a statement by the managing director and owner of Penta, Andreas Schaetzke, players and employees were not paid. He admitted mistakes: "The reasons are financial problems at Penta, which we could not solve quickly enough," Schaetzke wrote in a statement via Whatsapp to the Canadian press agency.

Penta Managing Director: "The blame lies entirely with us"

"Of course, the blame lies entirely with us here - but it is also important to address the reasons," writes Schaetzke. These are not only problems caused by the pandemic, but it is also clear that "the growth opportunities for an e-sports club remain severely limited". The open obligations are to be fulfilled.

As the league for the German-speaking countries announced on Friday, the team will be excluded for the relegation between Division 1 and 2. Penta is also not allowed to participate in the planned Prime Super Cup. In addition, the team will not get a place in the 2nd division of the league in 2023, so it will not be able to sell it either.

Penta 1860's disqualification from the league also means an automatic victory in the relegation for the creator team NNO, which thus comes a big step closer to promotion to the first division of the Prime League.
