Regulations of the new gambling contract

The new State Treaty on Gambling has been in force throughout Canada since 1 July 2021. This now also allows playing for real money. For this purpose, a set of rules is prescribed so that gambling providers can offer virtual slot games and online poker certified and legally in Canada. In order to prevent gambling addiction and to actively promote player protection, some important provisions have been published.

Regulations for concessions

Under certain conditions, concessions for online casinos can now be granted by the respective federal state. This regulation is not transnational and only applies to players from the respective federal state. Concessions for virtual slot games, on the other hand, can be offered throughout Canada. Non-legalized providers can be prosecuted in the future.

Player Protection Guidelines

Online gambling operators are also obliged to report every new registration or deposit to a central point. This can thus check the gaming behavior. If the stipulated monthly limit of CA$ 1,000 bet per player is reached, gambling will be suspended for the rest of the month.

Live casino games or jackpot games that involve a very high winning amount will not be approved. Some games also require additional licenses.

Individual regulations

Virtual slot machine game

The virtual slot game typically includes virtual slots that are modeled on the machines in the terrestrial casinos and casinos. Anyone who has a permit to offer virtual slot games is allowed to do so throughout Canada.

Games with an extremely high winning amount will not be approved. The bet can be a maximum of 1 dollar per spin.

Online Poker

Online poker is also one of the permitted games in Canada. If there is a permit from the competent authority, online poker can be offered throughout Canada.

Online Casinos

There are also restrictions on the online casino. In this case, the player may not choose his own table, but must be assigned to one at random. Only human players are allowed to compete. CPU players:inside are excluded. However, the regulations for the approval of an online casino, unlike the virtual slot game or online poker, are a matter of country. Each federal state can become a provider itself or award a concession to a private provider.
